As providers of products and services that involve compiling personal – and sometimes sensitive – information, protecting the confidentiality of that information has been, and will continue to be, a top priority for LifeBrain. Whether you are a current customer, former customer, or potential customer, we believe that you should know about the information we collect, the measures we take to safeguard it, and the situations in which we might share information with select business partners.
What information is collected on the Site?
We collect personal information from you to help you use our products and services, and this may be done while requesting a quote, submitting your application, through your use of our Site, discussing your application or insurance product with us, or by providing feedback to us. By “personal information,” we mean information that specifically identifies you. Generally, you do not have to register or provide your name or other information that personally identifies you in order to view the Site Content. If you choose to obtain a quote using our quote tool, you may initially be asked to provide your birthdate, gender, zip code, household information, financial information, information about whether or not you smoke, and similar biographical and lifestyle information. From time to time, we may contact you with information regarding our products or services.
If you choose to apply for a life insurance policy through LifeBrain, you will then be asked to register with LifeBrainlife.com and provide your personal information as part of your insurance application process. You will have the option to apply for a policy, where you will be asked to provide further information about your health, lifestyle, and financials. The information we collect and the extent to which we use it for the application process will vary depending on the product or service involved.
How is your information used?
If you choose to provide personally identifiable information to us through the Site, we use that information for the intended purposes for example, to quote, apply for, and help issue you a life insurance policy. Applications for insurance become the property of LifeBrain and may be used for any purposes ordinarily associated with such applications and retained in accordance with our processes for retaining such documentation and applicable law. If you apply for an insurance product, we may use your personal information to deliver your products and services, underwrite your application, provide you with customer service, and communicate with you during the life insurance application process, and as we deem appropriate for our internal business purposes and to fulfill our legal and regulatory requirements. The information collected generally for applications varies depending on the products or services you request and may include:
- Information provided in personal interviews or on applications and related forms, for example, name, address, birthdate, driver’s license information, Social Security number, and annual income.
- In the case of certain group products where we partner with employers or benefits providers to offer our products to certain employee groups, we may collect information from your employer, benefit plan sponsor, or association, for example, employer name, plan participant names, length of employment, annual income, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses, and other relevant information needed to verify the identity and employment of plan participants.
- Third-party reports, such as consumer credit history, motor-vehicle records, demographic, and/or medical information, if relevant to your product or service.
Please note that information collected from consumer reporting agencies, such as credit history, may assist us in preventing fraud and identity theft. Information related to your creditworthiness is maintained by the credit bureaus. If you find that there is an error or you want to dispute the information found in your credit report, please contact the credit reporting bureaus.

The insurance companies (including our insurance carriers and third-party underwriting providers) will use your information for underwriting purposes to determine your risk classification for the insurance product you are applying for, as well as to issue and administer any policy you may obtain.
This information may be used for, but is not limited to, the following purposes: requesting medical records, financial records, credit records, driving records, or other third-party sourced information during the underwriting process. Rates displayed on LifeBrainlife.com are based on basic underwriting guidelines only, and the insurance companies use your personal information to determine the final price for your policy and your risk classification.
The privacy and the security of your personal information are extremely important to us. While no website, database or system is completely secure or “hacker proof” and we cannot guarantee that it is, we have security practices and procedures in place to prevent unauthorized use or access to your nonpublic personal information. These include using SSL encryption for transmitting sensitive personal information through the Site and restricting access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees or service providers who need to know the information to provide life insurance products or services to you and requiring them to respect the confidentiality of all customer information.
Children’s Online Privacy
The Site is not designed for or directed at children 13 years of age or younger, and LifeBrain will not intentionally collect information through this Site from anyone under this age. If you think we have received or collected personal information from a child under the age of 13 through this Site, please contact us.
Notice to California Residents
The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) requires qualifying companies to provide to California residents an explanation of how such companies collect, use, and share their personal information, and of the rights and choices offered to California residents regarding handling of their personal information.
Under the CCPA, this Notice to California Residents and the privacy practices and rights it describes do not apply to the information we collect, use, or disclose about visitors to the Site when they initiate the process of applying for our financial products and services. This is because this information is subject to the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (“GLBA”), and implementing regulations, or the California Financial Information Privacy Act (“FIPA”), or to information related to our business contacts. The GLBA and/or FIPA governs the information of visitors to the Site who initiated the process of applying for our financial products or services.
Please note that we may also disclose all personal information to (a) comply with federal, state, or local laws; (b) comply with a civil, criminal, or regulatory inquiry, investigation, subpoena, or summons by federal, state, or local authorities; (c) cooperate with law enforcement agencies concerning conduct or activity that we believe may violate federal, state, or local law, (d) when we sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our business or assets, including your personal information, in connection with a business transaction (or potential business transaction), or (e) to professional advisors, such as lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services that they render to us. These disclosures are not “sales” under the CCPA.
California Residents’ Privacy Rights. Except as excluded above, the CCPA grants you the following rights:
- Access. You can request a copy of the personal information that we maintain about you.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete the personal information that we collected or maintain about you. If you apply for an insurance product or obtain a product through us, we cannot support requests to delete your personal information due to business purpose.
Please note that the CCPA limits these rights by, for example, prohibiting us from providing certain sensitive information in response to an access request and limiting the circumstances in which we must comply with a deletion request. If we deny your request in accordance with any such applicable restrictions, we will communicate our decision to you.
You are entitled to exercise the rights described above free from discrimination. Specifically, we cannot and will not discriminate against you in any way for exercising your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including by denying you services, charging you different prices or rates, providing you with a lesser quality of services, or suggesting any of the foregoing. To request access to or deletion of personal information, California residents may email privacy@getLifeBrain.com or send mail to LifeBrain Technologies Inc., Attn: Privacy Team, 460 Bryant Street, Floor 3, San Francisco, CA 94107. The CCPA requires us to verify the identity of the individual submitting a request to access or delete personal information before providing a substantive response to the request. California residents can empower an “authorized agent” to submit requests on their behalf. We will require the authorized agent to have a written authorization confirming that authority.

Like many companies online, we use services provided by Google, Facebook, and other companies that use tracking technology. These services rely on tracking technologies – such as cookies and web beacons – to collect directly from your device information about your browsing activities, your interactions with websites, and the device you are using to connect to the Internet. Confidentiality Practices for Victims of Domestic Violence or Abuse
Where an individual has been a victim of domestic violence or abuse, LifeBrain understands that their confidential information may require additional sensitivity, including the home address, phone number, or place of employment. Any LifeBrain applicant, policyowner, insured or beneficiary, who has been a victim of domestic violence or other abuse, and would like LifeBrain to take steps to further safeguard your information from others or need to remove a previously submitted request, please contact us at privacy@getLifeBrain.com to assist you. LifeBrain provides the victim a right of access and correction with respect to all confidential abuse information received about such individual. Please note that confidential abuse status is never a basis for denying, refusing to issue, renewing, reissuing, canceling, or otherwise terminating a policy, restricting or excluding coverage or benefits of a policy, or charging a higher premium for a policy.
